The Indianapolis Colts will enter free agency with a number of needs to address and while the linebacker position isn’t a true area of need, there are still a few options they could consider.
When the new league year begins March 13, the Colts will have the most salary cap space in the NFL to work with. The room is already promising with the likes of Darius Leonard, Anthony Walker and Matthew Adams, but there still could be some free agents that intrigue general manager Chris Ballard.
Here are three linebackers the Colts could consider in free agency:

C.J. Mosley | Baltimore Ravens | Age: 27
There is a chance the Ravens and Mosley find a middle ground in their contract negotiations, but there is an equal chance he will be able to test the market. Though the Colts don’t have a need for it, they could consider bringing in Mosley as a veteran leader.
A strong defender against the run, Mosley could be considered one of the best linebackers to hit the market, if not the best free agent linebacker. Because they don’t have a need, they shouldn’t overpay for Mosley, but if they can get him relatively cheap, he would be a strong asset next to Leonard.

Kwon Alexander | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Age: 24
There aren’t many linebackers available in free agency that would warrant the Colts consideration, but if there was one that fits the defensive scheme well, it would be Alexander.
Despite suffering a torn ACL in 2018 that limited him to just six games, he could be a nice addition to an already young and talented linebacker corps. His speed and athleticism are the type of traits the Colts look for in linebackers. He was a Pro Bowler in 2017 and led the league with 108 solo tackles in 2016.

Jordan Hicks | Philadelphia Eagles | Age: 26
If the Colts can look past the extensive injury history Hicks has and they feel he can be a worthwhile asset, the former Eagle would be a versatile piece in Indy’s 4-3 alignment.
Being able to work both inside and outside, Hicks would be able to provide the Colts with athleticism in the middle of the field. With a history with head coach Frank Reich, Hicks might be an option before his price gets too high.
