Just one win stands between the Tennessee Titans and a place in the postseason.
But they’ll have to accomplish that against a strong Houston Texans team on the road that has already clinched the AFC South, and defeated them 24-21 in Nissan Stadium just weeks ago.
Here’s a look at three things the Titans must do to secure the victory.
1. Start fast.
The Titans can’t afford a slow start in game like this.
While the team has proven to be more competitive and able to keep up in a shootout than they have been in the past, history has shown this is not a team that does well in a game of catch-up.
The 14-0 hole the Titans were in at halftime against the Texans in the last clash was one they were unable to make their way out of.
2. Generate turnovers.
If this game is anything like the last meeting between the two teams, it’s going to be close one. Forcing turnovers and capitalizing on them could make all the difference for the Titans, and they’ve proven they can do that in the past against this team.
Tennessee forced two big interceptions off of Watson earlier in the year, and will want to repeat that.
3. Make use of RB Derrick Henry.
Henry has been struggling with a hamstring injury as of late, but he should be at full capacity now after resting for Week 16.
The rusher has been an impact player in the Tennessee offense, totaling 271 carries for 1,329 yards and 35 touchdowns this season.
