The Tennessee Titans had a dismal start to the 2019 season, but seem to be turning things around, riding high on a two-game winning streak and back above .500 with an overall record of 6-5.
The team recorded a dominant 42-20 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, and will look to continue their success as they travel to Indianapolis to face yet another division opponent in the Colts.
Here are three keys to victory for the Titans to improve to 7-5 on the season.
1. Rattle QB Jacoby Brissett.
Brissett hasn’t exactly been at the top of his game lately — if anything, he seems to be declining even more. Brissett was 16-of-25 passing for 129 yards without a score in last week’s 20-17 loss to the Houston Texans. He’s up against a Titans team that has given up the ninth and eighth fewest points per game and third-down conversions, respectively.
If Tennessee keeps it up, the quarterback could be in for a difficult game.
2. Ball security and forcing turnovers.
The Titans and quarterback Ryan Tannehill took care of the football to secure a win over the Jaguars last week. The last time the Titans and Colts clashed was a close game, so the outcome of this one could come down to who wins the turnover battle. The Titans will need to capitalized on interceptions and fumbles, while not committing any costly mistakes of their own.
3. Start fast and finish strong.
The Titans are not a team that plays well from behind, and haven’t been any time in recent history. Divisional matchups have proven especially difficult for them, so snatching the momentum from the start and not giving up any big plays to cause it to shift will be crucial to leaving Lucas Oil Stadium with a victory.
