‘3 Idiots’ Returns to Big Screen in San Francisco, Sparks Nostalgia Online

The 2009 film 3 Idiots, widely regarded as a comfort watch for many, is set to be screened for a live audience in a 250-seat theatre in the city, drawing enthusiastic reactions from fans across platforms. The announcement has reignited nostalgia, with social media users praising the film’s continued relevance even years after its release.

The screening was announced by Farza Majeed, a Pakistani-origin entrepreneur based in San Francisco, who shared details of the event on X (formerly Twitter). In his post, he wrote, “I rented out a 250-seat theatre in SF to screen one of the best movies ever: 3 Idiots.” He also described the film as “a beautiful story set in India about 3 friends trying to figure out wtf to do with their lives.”

Explaining the motivation behind organizing the event, Majeed said the screening is more than just a movie show—it is something personally meaningful to him. He shared that the film had a lasting impact on his outlook and expressed a desire to let others experience the same. “If you're in a rut, need some inspo, or just want a laugh, come watch,” he wrote, adding, “If you've never seen it, I highly recommend it.”

The announcement quickly gained traction online, with users sharing fond memories and emotional reactions to the film. One user commented, “Make sure people are allowed to whistle and cheer; otherwise it's not a true screening.” Another wrote, “3 idiots one of my all-time favourites!! So epic! yeah this one definitely pulls you up :) I could hear the ‘All Is Well’ song in my head the moment I read this post.” A third user added, “Seen this movie 30+ times, and it still makes me laugh – I don't think I've seen a movie that encompasses so many themes like this one does to this day.”

Released in 2009, 3 Idiots continues to hold a strong cultural presence, often revisited for its themes around education pressure, friendship, and self-discovery. The upcoming screening highlights how the film still resonates with audiences globally, especially among those navigating modern-day career and life uncertainties.
