April 10--One man was killed and three others have been wounded in separate shootings since late Saturday morning on the West and South sides, police said.
Most recently, a 28-year-old man who was dropped off shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday at Roseland Community Hospital was pronounced dead. Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman, said the man had suffered a gunshot wound to the hip area, but the location of the shooting was not known.
Earlier Sunday, an 18-year-old man was wounded in a shooting about 1 a.m. in the Little Village neighborhood on the West Side, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago police spokesman.
The man was standing on a sidewalk in the 2200 block of South Marshall Boulevard when a male attacker got out of a dark-colored van and fired shots, Alfaro said.
The man was struck in the back and was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, Alfaro said.
About 10:45 p.m. Saturday, a 21-year-old man walked into University of Chicago Medical Center after getting shot in a drive-by in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side, Alfaro said.
The man was walking in an alley in the 5600 block of South King Drive when someone inside a red sedan fired shots at him, Alfaro said.
The man was struck in the left arm and right foot. He managed to get to the hospital. He was later transferred from University of Chicago to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Alfaro said.
The man is a self-admitted gang member, police said.
Earlier, a 22-year-old man suffered a graze wound in a shooting about 11:40 a.m. in the Austin neighborhood, according to police.
The shooting happened on the 5900 block of West Division Street, said Officer Kevin Quaid, a police spokesman.
The man suffered the graze wound to the upper portion of his left arm. The man, who was not being cooperative with police and was a gang member, refused treatment.
No one was in custody as a result of the shootings.
