Three people, including a 17-year-old boy, were injured in two separate shootings Tuesday in Will County.
Will County sheriff’s deputies were called about 5:30 p.m. for reports of the first shooting near Park Road and Washington Street in Joliet Township, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
An 18-year-old man told investigators he was chased by a van and shot in the chest on Washington, the sheriff’s office said. He was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet and airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
Investigators were later dispatched to a home, where the 17-year-old told them he was shot in the hand by someone in a vehicle on Washington, according to the sheriff’s office. He was also taken to Silver Cross.
Authorities recovered a shotgun at the scene of the shooting and are reviewing video surveillance.
Another man, 44, was shot in the pelvis about 6 p.m. at a home in Lockport Township, the sheriff’s office said. He was bringing in groceries when a vehicle drove by and someone inside fired shots.
The man told investigators he didn’t see the vehicle and was unable to provide further details, the sheriff’s office said. He was taken to Silver Cross.
Detectives do not believe the two shootings are related, but are asking anyone with information on either case to call 815-727-8574.
A 47-year-old man was also shot to death in Joliet on Tuesday afternoon, marking the city’s fourth homicide in a week.
