And while that may sound expensive, spending under $500 on the spooky holiday is pocket change to many celebrities who go all out for Halloween. From private haunts to year-long costume builds, here are three Halloween splurges that only celebrities can afford

A Studio-Grade Scare Zone

Buying a horror movie ticket is one thing. Bringing Hollywood to your doorstep to scare your spouse is another.

Kourtney Kardashian recently took husband Travis Barker to see “Black Phone 2” and had a huge surprise waiting for him when they returned, per People. While they were gone, she had Universal Studios create a “scare zone” outside their California home featuring elements of the film. It included a phone booth-style prop, an actor dressed as Finn, another dressed as The Grabber in the mask, a smoke machine and a van filled with a variety of missing posters depicting Travis, Kourtney and other members of their families.

A Mansion Turned Into a Full Haunted House

Like her older sister, Kourtney, Kim Kardashian also gets into the Halloween spirit. Kim Kardashian hired Mindy Weiss, a renowned celebrity wedding and event planner, to turn her mansion into a full-blown haunted house in 2023, as reported by People.

Highlights included a creepy masked actor holding baby doll heads in a room full of dolls and bones, a sink full of baby doll heads, a terrifying-looking actor beckoning to a room with a giant scary baby doll propped next to a crib, and a dining table covered in bloody gauze with fake body parts strewn across it and blood bags hanging over it.

Over-the-Top Custom Costumes That Take Months To Prep

Heidi Klum is well known for Halloween costumes that require months of planning and a professional team to create. Over the years, she’s had plenty of over-the-top looks, including a worm that took over 10 hours to build around her on the day of her Halloween party and a werewolf that took six hours to assemble pre-party, People reported.

In 2024, Klum became E.T., boasting a costume build that took a full year and a team of 30 FX artists led by prosthetic makeup artist Mike Marino to design, per Vogue. From 3D-printed parts and molded foam latex to animatronics and airbrushing, the E.T. costume took seven hours to build around her.

And the tradition continues. On Oct. 1, Klum teased this year’s costume creation on her Instagram with photos of a 3D face mold. She tagged Marino, writing, “This is just the beginning.”
