With fall here and colder, wetter weather on the way, our attention is turning to making seasonal changes to our homes for a warm and welcoming feel, with minimal effort. And where better to start than with Feng Shui?

As our Feng Shui experts explain, it's crucial to make a home feel more supportive in the fall and winter, as we crave solace and relaxation indoors, with less time spent outdoors.

Here, they share how to use Feng Shui to inspire a feeling of cozy comfort.

How to Feel Cozier at Home Using Fall Feng Shui

1. Pool Light

As Suzanne Roynon, interiors therapist and Feng Shui consultant, says, the easiest and simplest way to switch up the energy in your home for fall is by using 'warm white bulbs to pool light in darker corners.'

'The shade is soft and welcoming,' she explains. 'Choose a pair of matching lamps to support balance and strengthen couple energy in relationships,' such as the Luvkczc Ceramic Table Lamps available at Amazon, which Suzanne recommends.

Importantly, she continues, blue-tinted lights can be used during the day, but in the evening and at night they will keep the brain in active mode, and prevent it from winding down for sleep, leading to insomnia and headaches.

Instead, adds Lisa Morton, certified master teacher of Interior Alignment® Feng Shui, member of the International Feng Shui Guild, and founder of Pure Living with Lisa Morton, you can use some of your best candles to 'offer a relaxing glow and inspire a feeling of coziness,' or use a Himalayan salt lamp.

'These are one of my favorite products for fall,' she says. 'They bring in both the fire and earth elements of Feng Shui, and introduce not only healthier air, but cozy vibes.'

For this reason, she advises that it's always wise to consider the Feng Shui mirror rules, and check what they show in their reflection.

'Choose something you like; fresh flowers, delightful art, beautiful décor. Never photos of a couple – that's an invitation to infidelity – bathroom doors, which is where we release the unwanted, or the front door, or you bounce positive energy back out of the house.'

Just make sure it's never cracked or damaged, which is a bad energy item that's among the unluckiest items to have in your home.

3. Turn Your Back on Summer Clutter

Finally, says Suzanne, consider the things minimalists throw out every summer, and the things professional organizers never keep in their homes after summer.

'Put away outdoor cushions and hobby equipment, and replace with snuggly throws, organic candles, clear surfaces, and an inviting space for you and the people you love,' she advises. 'By consciously clearing and shifting the energy of your home into the new season, you allow it to relax and embrace the darker months of the year.'

Lisa agrees, adding, 'A thick textural blanket in a soft beige, tan, or brown [such as the Tweed Knitted Throw Blanket available at Wayfair] can bring in the earth element of Feng Shui.

'It helps us feel grounded and stable, while also cozy and comforted.'
