3 Falcons players injured already in first half vs. Jets

The only thing you really want to see in the preseason is no injuries. That wasn’t in the cards for the Falcons tonight.

Wide receiver Russell Gage has been playing extremely well of late, but he was just helped off the field after taking a hard landing. Gage was then carted off to the locker room in apparent pain.

Gage has been ruled out with a hip injury.

The Falcons are also down two key defensive backs.

Damontae Kazee suffered a rib injury on the first drive after a collision with a Jets receiver near the goal line. Rookie corner Kendall Sheffield later hurt his hamstring on a punt return.

Both DBs are now on the sidelines. They are Atlanta’s top two nickel cornerbacks right now.

Not great.

The Jets lead 6-3 late in the second quarter.

Update:

After the game, coach Dan Quinn told the media that neither Gage nor Kazee suffered broken bones. Ian Rapoport at NFL Network is reporting Kazee is considered day to day.
