Sunday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers (2-4) is essentially a must-win game for the Tennessee Titans (2-4) to keep things from getting too out of hand early on in the season.
The Chargers are struggling significantly, on a two-game losing streak just like the Titans.
Here are three things the Titans must accomplish on defense to get a win on Sunday.
1. Force turnovers.

The Chargers have given up 11 turnovers over six games this season, five of which were in the red zone. The Titans offense hasn’t produced the results it needs to lately, but the more chances they have to put points on the board and the less time Los Angeles has to do the same, the better of a position Tennessee is in.
2. Keep Philip Rivers under pressure.

Trying to force mistakes from the veteran quarterback will be a big factor. As Titans Radio’s Mike Keith mentioned earlier in the week, Rivers also makes defenses pay for being out of position. He’s capable of making game-changing plays — something the Titans definitely want to avoid.
3. Keep special teams from being a factor.

Big plays from the Chargers’ punt returner could make a difference in the outcome of the game. Los Angeles cornerback Desmond King has returned a punt for a touchdown this season, so he particularly poses a threat. The Titans are going to need to be at the top of their game in punt coverage.
