3-day rose festival ends on a melodious note

CHANDIGARH: Multiple events were organised on the last day of the 50th Rose Festival on Sunday. Being a sunny day, a large crowd thronged the Rose Garden. A number of artists from across the country delivered performances. The main attraction was a musical evening by Sufi singer Mamta Joshi.

Adviser to the administrator, Dharam Pal, who was the chief guest at the closing ceremony, gave away prizes to winners of different competitions in the flower category and parks. He also honoured performing artists. Senior officers of the Chandigarh administration and MC were present on the occasion.

In the evening, the live performance by Mamta Joshi was the highlight of the event. The stage area in Rose Garden was jam packed. The Sufi musical event started at 5:30 in the evening and continued for over a couple of hours.

Earlier in the day, various other programmes and events were performed on the main stage. The events included Morning Raga, classical performance by Pt Subhash Ghosh, a stand-up comedy performance by Vijay Kumar (Khayaali), Punjabi folk songs, Brij Ke Geet and Mayur dance by the noted artists from Mathura. The even concluded with the closing and prize distribution ceremony.
