3 cult designer items that have already been given a 2019 update

New year, new wardrobe, right? Not quite.

Designers have decided to give the most popular items of 2018 a refresh for 2019. Gucci's logo belt, Balenciaga's trendsetting dad trainers and Céline's initial necklace have all had stylish updates, ready to see you through another year on the street style scene.

So, it's out with the old and in with these 2.0 items.

There's is no denying that Balenciaga's Triple S sneakers were the shoe of 2018.

Dubbed the 'Dad' shoe, the pair managed to spark an entire ugly trainer trend, which dominated Instagram, fashion week and the street style scene over the past 12 months - with no sign of it stopping anytime soon.

In With The New...

Track Trainers £595 (Balenciaga)

Balenciaga has already released a new instalment for 2019: the Track Trainers. Holding the same bulky shape and sole, as well as embroidered shoe size at the tip of the toe, you'd be forgiven for not telling them apart.

But, the fashionable footwear, which comes in three shades, has now been enhanced with multiple high performance layers, making the shoes not only ready for the streets, but also hiking and running.

Out With The Old... Gucci Belt

According to fashion search platform Lyst, Gucci's instantly recognisable logo belt was the most wanted cult product of 2018 and was searched for more than half a million times.

The new double G belt was debuted at the Cruise 2019 collection shows. It features the same interlocking logo but this time with a horsebit detai, successfully merging two of the brand's most recognisable symbols and bound to be a 2019 winner.

Out With The Old... Celine Necklace

At fashion week spring/summer 2019 the necklace spotted on everyone's necks, from models to influencers and editors, was an eye-catching gold initial pendant.

The bamboo-inspired design by Céline was one of Phoebe Philo's last hero pieces for the French fashion house and quickly became a must-have accessory.

Hedi Slimane has since, controversially, become the the new creative director at Celine and has put his own spin on the hit item of jewellery.

With a modern and minimal twist, Slimane's alphabet range features an embossed initial set in a simple square. Will it prove as popular as the original? Only time will tell.
