PUNE: The crime branch of the Pimpri Chinchwad police on Sunday arrested three men, including an externed criminal, and seized two country-made pistols and two live cartridges from their possession.
The externee has been booked on the charge of violating the externment order.
A team from the anti-dacoity squad of Pimpri Chinchwad police led by sub-inspector Mangesh Bhange arrested the trio from Pimple Gurav.
The trio has been identified as Rajesh Padwal (26) of Khadakwasla, Atish Gaikwad (21) of Nigdi and A A Xavier (29) of Mamurdi near Dehu Road.
Gaikwad was externed from the limits of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad police commissionerates, along with Bhor, Mulshi, Haveli and Paud talukas.
An officer of the crime branch said that police constable Ashish Bankar recieved a tip-off that three men would be coming to Pimple Gurav and were possessing firearms.
“We laid a trap and arrested the trio,” he said.
