3 cornerbacks who could help the Texans right now

With Houston Texans starting cornerbacks Johnathan Joseph and Bradley Roby both suffering from injured hamstrings, the club is seemingly in the market for another top-tier cornerback. Here are three corners the Texans could trade for that would help the team immediately.

1. Patrick Peterson

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

This is the one cornerback that the Texans fans seem to really love. Peterson is 29 years old and an eight-time Pro Bowler. The former LSU standout would be a great addition to the Texans and once Roby returns, the Texans would have excellent depth.

Making only a little over $8 million this season, the Texans can surely absorb Peterson’s contract. They would most likely have to give up a 2020 third-rounder or a little more.

2. Chris Harris

The Denver Broncos’ best cornerback could be on the move. The Broncos are currently 2-4 on the season and could be looking at rebuilding if they lose another game or two. Harris is 30 years old and a four-time Pro Bowler. Like Peterson, Harris is a player many Texans fans have wanted, as well.

Currently, Harris is making $11 million this season, which is higher than Peterson’s current contract. A fourth-round pick may get it done, but it’s hard to see the Texans not try and make a deal for Peterson before Harris.

3. Xavien Howard

Douglas DeFelice-USA TODAY Sports

Now this trade is the most unlikely since the Texans have already traded huge assets to Miami this offseason. But if the Texans could somehow find a way to make the deal, it would be awesome considering Howard is only 26 years old.

Howard is a one-time Pro Bowler and makes around $10 million. A fourth-round pick could be all it takes to get a deal done, but it’ll likely cost the Texans more than that for the highest-paid corner in the NFL. Howard would be a nice addition, but considering the money that all three make and the fact Peterson and Harris are better, the Texans might not even consider Howard.
