3 Colts whose Madden ratings should be higher

On Monday, EA Sports released the veteran ratings for all players in the league for the upcoming Madden NFL 20 game. The Indianapolis Colts were rated relatively fairly, but there are some whose ratings should be a little higher.

The ratings that were released Monday are the launch ratings. Once the season begins, they are subject to change based on the player’s performance as EA Sports updates the game very often.

Still, here are three Colts whose Madden ratings should be higher:

LB Darius Leonard — 84 OVR

This is just disrespectful. After being snubbed a Pro Bowl selection despite leading the NFL in tackles and winning the Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 2018, Leonard is the 16th-highest rated linebacker. He’s listed as a left outside linebacker in the game, but we combined all of the ratings for all linebackers.

Despite his amazing rookie season, Leonard is in the mid-80s. Do you know who is has just a higher rating than him? Sean Lee. Leonard’s speed rating sits at 85, which doesn’t even crack the top-30 among linebackers.

If there was one rating the game sorely missed on, it’s Leonard’s.

CB Kenny Moore — 79 OVR

The Colts didn’t make Moore the highest-paid slot cornerback this offseason simply because they felt like it. The former undrafted free agent earned that through two solid seasons emerging as one of the best young corners in the game.

Moore’s 79 overall rating is—get this—tied for 46th(!) among cornerbacks in the game. You mean to tell me there are 45 cornerbacks in the NFL better than Moore? I’m not buying it.

It likely won’t matter once the season begins as Moore will let his play do the talking, which will force to update to raise his rating.

LB Anthony Walker — 69 OVR

I would have loved to count how many linebackers are rated ahead of Walker in the game, but my computer would have died before I scrolled all the way down. Walker’s grade doesn’t have the same sting as Leonard’s or Moore’s, but it still shouldn’t be among the rookie ratings.

Somehow, Walker finished the 2018 season as a 76 overall in the game. Apparently over the offseason, the Northwestern product got worse—dropping his rating a whole seven points.

Walker will be competing for a massive role in the middle of the defense at MIKE, and there is a likelihood his rating comes up if he can play similar to how he did in 2018.
