We don’t yet know the dates and times of the 2019 NFL schedule, but the opponents are set. The folks at Touchdown Wire recently released a list of what they believe to be the most intriguing non-divisional matchups. Three games involving the Chiefs made it on the list for various reasons. Let’s take a look at which games made the cut.

No. 8 Packers at Chiefs
“Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes…..not much more needs to be added to the luster of this matchup.”
There’s one player in the NFL right now that Patrick Mahomes is often compared to and that player is Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. Both have a similar style of play involving improvising and relying on superior arm talent to get the job done.
This is likely going to be a game with a lot of offensive fireworks and scoring, but let’s not forget that the Packers offense struggled in 2018. Rodgers may be a great quarterback, but he can’t do it all on his own.

No. 5 Chiefs at Bears
“Andy Reid will square off against one of his disciples, Matt Nagy as Kansas City travels to the Windy City. Nagy actually was an intern at Philadelphia Eagles training camp in 2008 and ’09, when Reid was coach. Nagy was a coaches’ assistant the following season and moved up the ladder in 2011-12. Reid took Nagy with him to Kansas City when he became coach in 2013.”
Andy Reid will face off against his protege Matt Nagy. I have a feeling that Nagy will be more creative in this game than Reid. Nagy seemed to have a penchant for the dramatic in his play-calling in 2018. Reid likely won’t treat it any differently than any other week.
The hope is that the Chiefs will be able to muster up a better defensive showing under Steve Spagnuolo in 2019. It’s Spagnuolo’s first season with the Chiefs, so Nagy will be seeing a brand new defense. Perhaps the defense will be able to match Nagy’s offensive flare and give Reid a win over his protege.

No. 1 Chiefs at Patriots
“Round Three for Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady. Will the soon-to-be third year Kansas City Chiefs quarterback be able to get into the win column against Tom Brady and the Patriots?”
This will be Patrick Mahomes’ third game against the New England Patriots, and his second game facing them in Foxborough. The Chiefs have unfinished business against the Patriots, who defeated them in the AFC championship game in 2018.
Mahomes will be looking for his first win against a Patriots team that has dominated the AFC conference for nearly two decades. Will the Chiefs have the firepower to get it done in 2019? We’ll find out.
