Jan. 07--Two men and a teen boy were charged with aggravated armed robbery after a man on a CTA Blue Line train was robbed and beaten early Tuesday, according to Chicago police.
James A. Phillips, 25, of the 1400 block of South Canal Street, and Bryant W. Mitchell, 24, of the 1600 block of West LeMoyne Street, are expected to appear in bond court Wednesday at the Leighton Criminal Court Building, according to police and the Cook County state's attorney's office.
A 17-year-old boy from the 3600 block of West Fillmore Street also was charged but police did not release his name because he is a juvenile, police said.
The three were on the train at 4:57 a.m. when they approached a 23-year-old man sitting down, police said.
They said they were robbing him and implied that they had a gun before hitting him, police said.
They then took the man's belongings. Responding police briefly chased after the three near the Damen Blue Line stop and apprehended them, police said.
The victim suffered a cut over his left eye but refused medial attention, police said. His belongings were returned to him, police said.
Phillips was ordered held in lieu of $150,000 bail and Mitchell was ordered held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
