3 Cardinals coaches test positive for COVID-19, will not travel for game vs. 49ers

The Arizona Cardinals have two players currently on the COVID list after testing positive for the virus. Receiver A.J. Green and tight end Demetrius Harris are unlikely to play against the San Francisco 49ers as a result.

The Cardinals will also be without three assistant coaches for Sunday’s game.

The team announced Friday afternoon that assistant head coach/special teams coordinator Jeff Rodgers, running backs coach James Saxon and offensive line assistant Brian Natkins all will be unable to make the trip to Santa Clara as they have tested positive for COVID-19.

It is the second time they have been without at least one member of the coaching staff due to a positive test for the virus. Against the Cleveland Browns, the Cardinals were without head coach Kliff Kingsbury and quarterbacks coach Cam Turner.

Devin Fitzsimmons, Rodgers’ assistant special teams coach, will take care of coordinating the special teams unit this weekend and other offensive assistants will fill in for Saxon and Natkins.
