3 bold predictions for Dolphins vs. Eagles

The Miami Dolphins enter Week 13 of the NFL season on the heels of consecutive 17 point losses to Buffalo and Cleveland. Miami admirably pushed back against the Browns after falling into a 28-point hole, but it was too little, too late.  The Dolphins will have their hands full in this week’s contest against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles, much like the Browns, are a talented but underachieving group. Will the Dolphins’ efforts against the Eagles fall equally flat?

There may be some surprises and big stories along the way. Here are three bold predictions for this Sunday’s contest against Philadelphia.

DL Christian Wilkins logs a sack

Eagles QB Carson Wentz loves to try to make big plays happen, whether than comes from holding the ball within the pocket, scrambling or using his legs. The big play mentality will provide the Dolphins’ defensive line an extra half-second to try to close the gap on Wentz — Wilkins has been playing well as of late and seeing him burst through a gap for sack would be a nice payoff for the rookie defensive lineman.

DeVante Parker logs a career high in receiving yards

The odds suggest the Dolphins will be playing this game from the same position as they’ve played most of them this season: from behind. And as such, the Dolphins are going to have to revert back to passing the football — with just a handful of healthy receivers. That leaves Parker as a potential beneficiary, seeing as how the Eagles’ secondary doesn’t have that dominant presence to neutralize the other team’s #1 receiver. Look for a big day from Parker this weekend.

And since we’re going “bold”, let’s make it 140 yards.

The Eagles have a “get right” game

The Bills were coming off a bad loss to Cleveland before playing Miami and righting the ship. The Browns came in the following week still looking to recover from a terrible start to the season and position themselves to get back to .500. They did. The Eagles enter this game in the same position: 5-6 but with blood in the water after watching the Dallas Cowboys fall to 6-6 on the year on Thanksgiving.

The Eagles have the chance to get back into a tie with Dallas in the standings, and they’re going to be focused and intent to take it. Bet on the Eagles big this weekend.
