The long holiday weekend is finally here, which means that it's time to check out some new Prime Video movies. If you're anything like us, you'll be keen to squeeze in some solid time in front of your TV. And if so, make the most of it by picking the best movies that are new to Prime Video right now.
For this week's list, we've selected three excellent titles, including this year's Best Picture Oscar winner, a brilliant murder mystery and an all-time classic crime comedy. These are all quite different films, but they all have one thing in common: They're absolutely superb.

'One Battle After Another' (2025)
Where else to start, but with one of last year's biggest hitters, which has just made its Prime Video debut. "One Battle After Another" finds director Paul Thomas Anderson in peerless form, turning in a (very) loose adaptation of Thomas Pynchon's 1990 novel Vineland. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Bob Ferguson, a washed-up former revolutionary who has abandoned the cause to bring up his daughter, Willa (Chase Infiniti). When the corrupt Colonel Lockjaw (a scenery-chewing Sean Penn) tracks them down, however, Bob finds himself pulled back into the fight.
Beautifully staged, fist-gnawingly tense, and often uproariously funny, Anderson has added another masterpiece to his stacked resume. "One Battle After Another" was the big winner at this year's Academy Awards, picking up six Oscars, including the Best Picture award. Once you've seen the film's astonishing final chase sequence, you'll fully understand why.

'Gosford Park' (2001)
This murder mystery from 2001 is steeped in atmosphere and features a who's who of British acting talent. "Gosford Park" is set in the titular estate in the 1930s. Sir William McCordle (Michael Gambon) and his wife, Lady Sylvia (Kristin Scott Thomas), organize a shooting party at their mansion. It's not long, however, before things take a sinister turn and a body is discovered.
"Gosford Park" isn't simply a whodunit. It's also an incisive satire of the British class system and one that still feels relevant today. It's written by Julian Fellowes, who went on to create TV mega-hit "Downton Abbey," which was originally intended as a spin-off of this film. If you're a fan of that show, then you're sure to enjoy this terrific mystery.

'Get Shorty' (1995)
Finally, let's wrap things up for this week with a classic crime comedy. "Get Shorty" follows Chili Palmer, a ruthless loan shark played by John Travolta. He's tasked with collecting $300,000 in stolen cash from a film producer in L.A. While there, however, he finds himself accidentally falling into the movie business — an industry, he soon discovers, that is not too dissimilar to the mob. Inevitably, it's not long before the two worlds of show business and crime collide in spectacular fashion.
Also along for the ride in this anarchic comedy are Gene Hackman as debt-riddled B-movie producer Harry Zimm, Rene Russo as actress Karen Flores and Danny DeVito as a self-important producer who gets caught up in the chaos. Helmed by "Men in Black" director Barry Sonnenfeld, "Get Shorty" is a terrific mix of laughs and action.
