3 best-case scenarios for the Raiders in 2020 NFL Draft

It’s draft day, and the Las Vegas Raiders are about to make their first selection in their brand new home. With two picks in the first round, the hype is top-notch, and fans are salivating at the mouth for any type of sports activities.

The Raiders draft last year was a success even though their first pick didn’t give the best return on investment. The team still was able to land three starters in Josh Jacobs, Maxx Crosby, and Trayvon Mullen, with Foster Moreau being a great role player.

There are plenty of scenarios for the Raiders to be successful, let’s break down the three best for a successful Raiders draft.

1. Landing One of the Top Three Receivers

Anti Derek Carr people will say that he has enough around him but are also clamoring for another wideout(make it make sense). But the best scenario for the Raiders would be to land Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb, or Henry Ruggs.

The Raiders have met with all three players, and any one of these three studs would be an upgrade to receiver corps that needs help. Jerry Jeudy might be the best fit being the exact Z receiver Gruden covets. But if they leave the draft with any of these three fans should be ecstatic.

2. Trading Down for More Picks

The Raiders have five picks in the top-100 selections, but no second-round picks because of the controversial Khalil Mack trade. There is a right amount of depth in this draft, and they could be missing out on crucial players without that pick. Trading down is a dream scenario.

Trading down seems easy on a mock draft simulator. In real life, the Raiders need a suitor who is willing to trade up and offer them picks for a particular player. The Raiders have to see a great player fall to them that might not be high on their boards and bait a team to trade up.

Easier said than done, but it would help the Raiders add pieces to the roster.

3. Find Starters in the Third Round

With three picks in the third round and two back to back, it has become crucial for them to land these selections. If the Front office can nail the third round, it can make set the Raiders up with a great future.

The third round will be full of good players who can add depth to specific positions that were added in free agency. There are players like Terrell Burgess who could take over for Lamarcus Joyner a year from now at the slot.

A linebacker like Akeem Davis-Gaithers who could become a starter down the line. This will be a critical round where they can hopefully find future starters.
