Ouai is an LA-based haircare brand that has always made excellently scented products. So, quite rightly, it decided to launch fragrances. If you like a floral, try North Bondi (50ml, £46; at harrods.com), a modern, flowery symphony of Italian lemon, rose de mai and white musk. So alluring. 2 Sana Jardin
Sana Jardin is a luxury scent initiative with a conscience. All the floral waste is upcycled into product that female harvesters in Morocco can sell — keeping 100 per cent of the profits. And Berber Blonde (50ml, £95; sanajardin.com) is a sparkling blend of orange, neroli and musk. Fresh yet utterly transportive: suddenly its sunset and you’re with a new lover in the mountains of North Africa. Enjoy this moment…
3 Tonka, Le Labo
And so, breathlessly, we end with the ever-classy Le Labo’s Tonka 25 (50ml, £125; lelabofragrances.com) — so dark, so warm, so addictive. Cedar, tonka, and vanilla— all the seduction of amber and yet… deeper. God, this stuff is good.
They used to say that, when you need to shift some tectonic emotional plates, get a haircut. But, for me, scent is wildly more resonant and affecting.
