3,111 new Covid cases, 26 more deaths

Thailand logged 26 more Covid-19 fatalities and 3,111 new cases on Thursday, the Public Health Ministry said on Friday morning.

Of the new cases, 2,957 were in the general population and 154 among prisoners.

The death toll rose by one from Wednesday while the number of new cases increased by 74.

On Thursday, 3,241 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.

Since the pandemic started early last year, 2,223,435 people have contracted the coronavirus disease and 2,168,494 have recovered. All but 28,863 of the infections have occurred since April 1 of this year.

A total of 21,698 people have died, all but 94 of them since April 1.

The kingdom's 24-hour high of Covid-19 fatalities was 312 recorded on Aug 13. The highest number of cases was 23,418 on Aug 13.
