3,000 sign petition calling for taxi driver to get license back after passenger altercation

More than 3,000 people have signed a petition calling for a Glasgow taxi driver to be given his license back after it was suspended following an altercation with a passenger.

In March of this year, Kenneth Clark picked the female passenger up outside Glasgow Central Station and she asked to be taken to the bank.

However the woman became aggressive and started spitting at the visor after she realised she was being driven to the wrong branch.

When the driver stopped the taxi, the woman got out and began kicking the vehicle and attacking Kenneth.

Kenneth then punched the woman in what he claimed was self defence when he was brought before the Glasgow City Council licensing committee.

A 28-year-old woman was arrested and charged following the incident, but Kenneth was not charged by Police Scotland following the incident.

Last week, councillors in the licensing committee decided to suspend Kenneth's license.

A petition launched online calling for Kenneth to have his license returned has now received 3,171 signatures since it began four days ago.

You can take a look at the full petition here .
