2yo girl screamed in pain and ‘turned red’ after drinking from sealed McDonald’s Happy Meal bottle – what was inside?

A two-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital after she drank a liquid that might have been disinfectant from a sealed bottle in a McDonald’s Happy Meal in Kassel, Germany. This scary incident nearly became fatal for her.

According to The Sun, the girl’s mother says she ordered a Happy Meal that came with still water for her young daughter. The 34-year-old parent says the cap was tightly sealed when she opened the bottle shortly after in the parking lot. She said nothing looked wrong at first.

But as soon as the little girl took a sip from the bottle, she quickly turned bright red and started screaming in serious pain. It turned out there wasn’t any water inside the bottle at all. Instead, the liquid had a “strong alcoholic smell.” The mother right away thought it was some kind of cleaning or disinfectant product.

This shows a big problem with safety checks

Honestly, this is a huge failure of quality control. You expect a sealed product to have exactly what the label says, especially when you’re giving it to a young child.

The mother quickly ran back inside the restaurant to talk to the staff. She says they shockingly “did not take her seriously” when she explained how bad the situation was. Because of this, she had to call emergency services herself. An ambulance soon arrived to treat the child right there.

A local witness talked about the scary scene that happened shortly after noon. He remembered hearing loud screams and sirens coming from the emergency vehicles. Although the child was treated right away, she was later taken to the hospital just to be safe and make sure there was no chance of poisoning.

Thankfully, authorities later said the child was fine and had been “very lucky” to avoid serious injury from drinking the cleaning fluid. This incident adds to growing concerns about child safety at the fast-food chain, especially after a 5-year-old went missing from school.

The police are now looking into the incident as careless bodily harm. They currently think that cleaning staff had reused or used the bottle, which caused the mix-up. The actual contents of the bottle have been collected and sent for testing to find out exactly what the toddler drank.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said they are “fully helping with the investigation.” They added that they were “moved by the events” but couldn’t give any more statements right now. Sadly, this isn’t the first time customers have gotten sick after eating at the world famous restaurant chain. The chain has also seen violent incidents over simple orders that turned dangerous.

Back in 2016, a mother in Colchester, UK, said that a McDonald’s meal made her two-year-old daughter, Lucy Anne, so sick she became “lifeless.” Paramedics later confirmed Lucy Anne had severe poisoning. Her mother blamed the sausage McMuffin they had eaten for breakfast that morning. It’s definitely a strong reminder that even sealed products need a second look if something looks or smells strange.
