2fm star Doireann Garrihy's warning to dog owners following scary incident in the park

2fm presenter Doireann Garrihy revealed that her dog was attacked by a German Shephard dog while on a walk in the park.

Detailing the terrifying incident, she issued a warning to other dog owners after the occurrence left her feeling "completely shook". She revealed that an unmuzzled German Shepherd, which was not on a lead, went for her Cockalier pup.

"He went for Bertie," she said. She then roared at the other dog to get it away from Bertie. "I roared so loud that the dog backed off but he was fully about to maul him," she said.

"The owner said ‘my bad.’ I’m so angry and completely shook." Doireann credits Bertie as being her "sanity" in the Covid-19 lockdowns in Ireland.

Doireann's sister Ailbhe’s dog Bobby died after being attacked by an Alsatian in 2020. She said: "This is how Ailbhe’s dog Bobby died, please please PLEASE – if you know anyone who is that irresponsible with breeds like Alsatians, ask them to get a grip. It is their fault, not the dog’s fault."

Detailing the horrific incident which took place in 2020, Doireann's sister Ailbhe wrote on Instagram at the time: "An awful accident involving another dog left him fighting for his life. He spent six nights between our local vet and the pet emergency hospital in UCD who looked after him so well, and after putting up a huge fight, it just wasn't meant to be for Bob.

"Bob gave us an unforgettable three years of love, laughter and cuddles."
