RTE bosses have announced they are axing 2FM’s Breakfast Republic in a major shake-up at the station.
Online personality Doireann Garrihy and presenter Eoghan McDermott will be taking over the slot in an attempt to attract a younger audience.
Meanwhile Jenny Greene will also make her return to the station in a new drivetime slot.
Head of 2FM Dan Healy revealed the news to the Irish Daily Mirror and said: “We are changing breakfast from early June, so it is going to be the Doireann Garrihy and Eoghan McDermott breakfast show, we have yet to name it.”
“Doireann is someone we have been looking at for a couple of years.
“We target these younger audiences and she has an enormous profile and is a content creator for those (people).

“And we think she will do an enormous job for us in terms of maybe bringing younger audiences to our breakfast show.
“Keith, Jen, Bernard and Lottie have done an unbelievable job for us, but we felt, you know, times change.”
And he was delighted to announce the return of Jenny Greene, who recently quit the station after The Nicky Byrne with Jenny Greene Show ended.
Mr Healy added: “Our big news is that Jenny Greene is back.
“She will do our evening drive from 3pm. We are really thrilled about that.”
