Turkish officials have reportedly refused to reveal more information about the death of a young British woman who passed away during a family holiday in Istanbul, amid claims that she returned to the UK with her heart missing.
Beth Martin, 28, had gone on holiday with her husband Luke and their two children, Eloise, eight, and Tommy, five. During the flight, Beth began feeling unwell with symptoms similar to food poisoning.
However, according to a GoFundMe set up by a close friend of the Martin family, Beth began to grow “delirious” upon arrival in Istanbul and was quickly rushed to the hospital. She sadly passed away the following day on April 29.

Beth’s devastated family claims they were hardly given any updates on Beth’s declining health and were even unaware for hours that she had passed away.
Beth’s husband Luke, claimed that Turkish officials had suspected he was involved in her death and believed he had poisoned her. However, after paying thousands of dollars, he claimed he was able to have her body returned to the UK.
After an autopsy conducted in the UK, the Martin family allege that Beth’s heart had been removed without their consent.
The Turkish Ministry of Health have reportedly said that the 28-year-old’s cause of death was due to “cardiac arrest due to multiple organ failure”.
“The patient was recorded in the hospital records as a ‘forensic case’ in line with the statement of Martin’s wife that they may have been poisoned by a meal they ate in their country before the trip, and the initial findings,” the statement said, per The Daily Mail.
“A preliminary autopsy [without incision] was performed at the hospital in accordance with the forensic case procedure and his wife’s request in this regard. The exact cause of Martin’s death could not be determined with the current findings in the preliminary autopsy, which was carried out with the participation of the Public Prosecutor and the forensic medicine doctor.
“Beth Martin did not undergo any surgical procedures during her treatment at the hospital, and there was no question of any organs being removed.”

Despite the update, the family are still left with so many questions surrounding Beth’s death, including whether she was given penicillin by doctors despite a known allergy to the medicine.
According to the post on the family’s GoFundMe, the Marmara Pendick hospital, which treated Beth, is facing an investigation into negligence over Beth’s death.
The family now await the coroner’s inquest into her death. However, at the time of writing, the GoFundMe for Beth’s family has raised £258,855 ($539,154.84 AUD).
