28 brilliant pictures of Liverpool Christmas Markets as people get in the festive spirit

Liverpool’s Christmas Market returned to the city centre today and hundreds got in the festive spirit during their visits.

The Christmas market is back with dozens of festive cabins located on St George’s Hall plateau and along William Brown Street. The market has been organised by Liverpool City Council’s Culture Liverpool team.

This evening, ECHO photographer Colin Lane headed down to the Christmas markets as people tucked into giant toasted marshmallows, sausages, roast chestnuts, mulled wine and Baileys hot chocolates. Those visiting between now and Christmas Eve will find a range of places to drink, including a tipi bar, ski bar, windmill bar and the new Bavarian bar. The bars will be hosting local performers on the weekends.

The big wheel, snow slide and Santa Land rides have also returned. Those keen to take the spotlight can enjoy a taste of the action with a twist, in the market's popular karaoke ski lifts.

As usual, there is a selection of stalls and visitors can pick up things like Christmas gifts, including personalised decorations, glass baubles, photo prints and jewellery. New for this year is a beautiful vintage carousel for families to enjoy.

Liverpool Christmas Market will run until Christmas Eve. The market will be open from 11am - 9pm Monday to Wednesday and 11am - 10pm Thursday to Sunday. Christmas Eve opening times will be 11am - 4pm.
