28.64m foreign visitors in last 10 months

A total of 28.64 million tourists arrived in Thailand during first 10 months this year, generating revenue of 1.45 trillion baht, according to Deputy Prime Minister Thanasak Patimaprakorn.

International arrivals from Jan 1 to  Oct 29 were up 6.56% year on year to 28.64 million. Income from foreign tourism was 1.45 trillion baht, an increase of 9.02% on same period last year. Figures for the final two days of October were still being compiled.

In October alone, visitor numbers increased 20.17%, contributing revenue of 129.8 billion baht, up 21.77% from last October.

Gen Thanasak said the Tourism and Sports Ministry will organise 183 tourist events from November this year to the end of September 2018, as part of national campaign called Amazing Thailand Tourism Year 2018.

The National Tourism Committee announced on Wednesday it will help improve the quality of local and street food and improve hygiene and cleanliness at major tourist attractions.
