27-year-old man stabbed in Gurugram, shot at by brother

GURUGRAM: A man was injured after his elder brother first stabbed him and shot at him hours later for trying to save his sister-in-law during a fight between the couple, a police officer said on Sunday. The incident occurred in Sector 9A on Saturday.

The victim, identified as Anil Kumar (27), has a stab wound on his arm and a bullet injury on his thigh. He is undergoing medical treatment at a hospital in Sector 10.

According to the police, the elder brother – Naresh – had a fight with his wife and tried to hit her when Anil intervened between the two on Saturday morning.

Angered by this, Naresh threatened his brother with a knife. He then stabbed Anil on the right arm and fled the house. All three of them live there.

Later in the night, Naresh returned around 9:30pm and pulled a pistol to Anil’s forehead.

Anil said that the pistol did not work initially when Naresh pulled the trigger, and he took this opportunity to try and flee from the house. Naresh shot Anil just as he was running out of the room.

“After Naresh shot at my right thigh, he said that he will not leave until I’m dead. But he left after 10-15 minutes,” Anil told the police.

He was taken to the hospital by a neighbour. Naresh’s wife, not identified in the complaint, has minor injuries. An FIR has been filed at the Sector 9A police station under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other relevant sections of Arms Act.
