27 sheep stolen from field in full view of Edinburgh City Bypass and police want answers

Dozens of sheep were stolen from a field in full view of the City of Edinburgh Bypass.

27 Swale and Cheviot Ewes were taken from land at Old Pentland Road – near to the A702 Biggar Road and the Straiton ski slope. Motorists who use the City Bypass are being asked to think back to whether they saw anything suspicious in the area.

Midlothian Police say they are investigating the "high value" theft which happened some time between Sunday 15 and Sunday 22 November.

A spokesperson said: "Anyone who saw any suspicious activity on Old Pentland Road or in surrounding area between the dates detailed, or has information regarding the crime or sheep stolen is urged to contact police immediately on 101, quoting incident number 2149 of 30 November, 2020."

Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
