KANPUR: The much-awaited placement drive began at IIT-Kanpur on Wednesday with top global companies giving 280 job offers to the students. Last year, 250 offers were made by the companies on the first day of the drive.
On first day bulk hiring was done by Intel, Microsoft and Rakuten.
This year also the interviews are being conducted in the virtual mode in the shadow of Covid pandemic. The highest salary package offered to the students is a whopping Rs 1.2 crore per annum. Students accepting this offer will be working on Indian soil. There are other meritorious students who have been hired for offshore locations and they are likely to be based in the US.
The highest salary package offered for working at the offshore location was $250,00 per annum. The placement cell in-charge, IIT-Kanpur, Dr Kustubh Kulkarni said 43 international job offers were given on day one, and the highest salary package offered to students (while they will be located in India) is Rs 1.2 crore per annum.
