People put their hands together in silent prayer in front of bamboo lanterns to mourn the victims of the 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake, during a memorial service at Kobe East Park in Chuo Ward, Kobe, at 5:46 a.m. on Friday. The disaster occurred 25 years ago at that exact time and ultimately claimed the lives of 6,434 people.
