25 apps all Android users need to delete from their phone now

Android phone and tablet users are being told to delete these 25 apps after a security alert.

A security expert has warned that the apps contain that can steal your Facebook password.

Some of the apps appear to offer a legitimate function, but secretly contain malicious code.

While they’ve now been deleted from the Google Play Store, before being taken down, the apps had been downloaded more than 2.34 million times, reports the Mirror.

A new report by Evina, seen by ZDNet said: “The apps posed as step counters, image editors, video editors, wallpaper apps, flashlight applications, file managers, and mobile games.”

According to Evina, this code can detect which app you’ve recently opened.

If this is Facebook, the app can overlay a web browser window on top of the official Facebook app and load a fake Facebook login page.

Worryingly, if you’re fooled by the fake page and enter your credentials, the app can log your data and send it to a remote server.

Thankfully, Evina has reported the dangerous apps to Google, which has now removed them from the Google Play Store.

However, if you have any of the apps installed on your smartphone, we would recommend deleting them immediately.
