247 Sports ranks the Top 10 toughest places to play for 2019

Brad Crawford of 247 Sports compiled a list of the Top 10 toughest places to play in college football for the upcoming 2019 season.

*Note that most of the stadiums on this list are already challenging but this year’s schedules put them towards the top.*

Sanford Stadium comes in at No. 2 , behind only Clemson. The Bulldogs have not lost at home since 2016 and continue to dominate their SEC opponents ‘Tween the Hedges’.

Here is how the rest of the Top 10 plays out.

  1. Clemson- (Memorial Stadium)
  2. Georgia- (Sanford Stadium)
  3. LSU- (Tiger Stadium)
  4. Penn State- (Beaver Stadium)
  5. Texas A&M- (Kyle Field)
  6. Oregon- (Autzen Stadium)
  7. Michigan- (The Big House)
  8. Alabama- (Bryant-Denny-Stadium)
  9. Ohio State- (Ohio Stadium
  10. Nebraska- (Memorial Stadium)

With Notre Dame, Missouri, and Texas A&M set to visit the Classic City this season, it’s easy to see why the Bulldogs’ home turf is ranked highly.

Alabama, which can seat up to 101,821 in its stadium, is likely lower on the list due to a tendency for blowing out home opponents. The Crimson Tide have not dropped a home game since 2015 to Ole Miss, in a year that they won the national championship anyway.

The rest of the Top 10, aside from Oregon’s Autzen Stadium, seat more than a few fans. The Ducks’ 54,000-seat bowl-shaped stadium may look a bit small but the electricity of the crowd on gameday is unmatched by stadiums with similar size.

A stadium that was left off of the list which we feel might have gotten snubbed is Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium. Though the Tigers’ home field seats 87, 451, it has one of the largest collegiate scoreboards in the country and has proven to be a tough task every two seasons for Georgia and Alabama alike.
