24-year-old to get £10,000-a-month for 30 years as first National Lottery Set For Life winner goes public

A 24-year-old has become the first public winner of the top prize on National Lottery's Set for Life.

And it will see him scoop £10,000 every month for the next 30 years.

Dean Weymes matched five main numbers and one Life Ball while playing the new National Lottery game for the first time on Monday (August 5).

The win means the graduate will enjoy a whopping £3.6 million in total in installments until the age of 54, the Mirror reports.

And he's already booked a getaway to Disneyland Paris with his family and wants to do a tandem skydive.

"This win will mean lots of extra spending money. I am now worry free for the rest of my life," delighted Dean said at a photocall today.

He says he is "living the dream" (Phil Harris)

"Everything still seems quite unreal – the news really is still sinking in.

“I cannot actually believe that I am really going to be able to do these things – and do them right now."

He was pictured sipping cola as he doesn't drink booze.

The screen writing graduate, who lives in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, with his sister Sarah, says he is "living the dream".

Dean, who since the win has quit his part-time job with transport team at Amazon, continued: “It is just incredible. I am 24 and I am now literally set for life.

"Getting £10k every month allows me to start working through my bucket list.

"I have always wanted to fulfil my dream to become a script writer and this now allows me the freedom to do it.

"I didn’t have to give it a second thought – I quit my current role so I can begin to work on the job I have always wanted.

Dean has previously directed a film called 'The Thief', which focuses on the struggles of his younger brother Robert who lives with severe autism.

In the seven-minute piece, his parents discuss what will happen when they get too old to look after Robert.

But Dean says his recent luck will mean he can help his parents get the best possible care for his brother.

"It is an incredible feeling that I will be getting £10k every month for 30 years – I literally am living the dream.”

Set For Life from The National Lottery costs £1.50 per line to play.

Draws take place every Monday and Thursday.

National Lottery players raise, on average, around £30 million for National Lottery-funded projects every week across the arts, sports, heritage, health, education, environment, charity and voluntary sectors.
