A 24-year-old woman was found dead in a tent in the Lake District just two weeks after she was sectioned.
Callie Lewis was admitted to hospital on August 14 last year when her mum discovered that she was planning to kill herself, an inquest into her death heard today.
Callie, who had a history of depression and obsessional behaviour, was assessed at a mental health centre and sectioned - but was released from the unit just two days later.
Senior coroner Patricia Harding, opening the inquest, told jurors that Callie's friends believed she was still planning on taking her own life after being released.
Others later found out that Callie had travelled from Dover, Kent, to Windermere, a popular beauty spot in the Lake District.
Jurors heard that she had been camping at a youth hostel near to the lake.
Hostel manager William Betts said in a statement: "She appeared to be pretty quiet and she was on her own. She just stayed within the building keeping herself to herself."
Mr Betts said he noticed Callie's tent was no longer in its spot on August 29 and police attended the site on August 31.
After some searches he and a police officer found her body in a tent.
The inquest at The Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone, which is scheduled to last two weeks, continues.
