24 Y.O. Alleged Bondi Gunman Likely To Survive Injuries, ‘May Face’ Criminal Charges

One of the alleged gunmen responsible for the terror attack on Bondi Beach on Sunday is likely to survive his injuries, NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon revealed.

The 24-year-old was taken to hospital in a critical condition after he and his 50-year-old father allegedly opened fire on an event celebrating the first day of Hanukkah in north Bondi.

The older suspect was shot by police and died at the scene. His son was hospitalised under strict police guard on Sunday night after he sustained injuries during the attack.

“Based on his medical condition, it’s likely that person may face criminal charges,” Lanyon said during a press conference today.

No further updates about the suspect’s condition have been released at the time of writing.

The gunmen were identified by various news outlets earlier today, but NSW Police have not publicly named them yet.

The 50-year-old deceased shooter was a licensed firearm holder who had six firearms legally in his possession.

The 24-year-old was known to Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) but not in an “immediate threat perspective”, the agency’s Director-General Mike Burgess said.

16 people, including the 50-year-old gunman, were killed during the shooting, which was classified as a terrorist attack by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Sunday night.

Some of the victims — who range from 10 to 87 years old — are beginning to be identified, including a Holocaust survivor and a London-born rabbi.

Various prominent members of Sydney’s Jewish community condemned the attacks this morning along with world leaders including Donald Trump.

Australians wanting to help are being urged to donate blood, particularly those who have type O negative.
