24 Hours in A&E to feature Nottingham hospitals in new series

Nottingham University Hospitals will be the new home of Channel 4's BAFTA-nominated series '24 Hours in A&E', the trust has confirmed.

The trust, which runs the Queen's Medical Centre and City Hospital, had been hinting at "something very exciting" over the course of Thursday, July 29.

At 2pm it then revealed it would be starring in a new series of the hit TV show.

In a tweet Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) said: "We are incredibly excited to announce that we will be the new home of Channel 4’s twice BAFTA-nominated and Royal Television Society award-winning ‘24 Hours in A&E’.

"We can’t wait to show the world our amazing team and to showcase both ED and our other services that patients will move through on their pathway to recovery."

NUH says the show will be coming to the city's hospitals this Autumn, but an airing date remains unannounced.

The very first series aired back in 2011 and the show has been going for a total of 24 since the beginning many years ago.

It was initially filmed in King's College London and changed to St George's Hospital in Wandsworth on its seventh series.

Cameras film inside the hospitals around the clock for an entire month to showcase what happens behind the walls of some of the busiest emergency departments and hospitals in the country.

The show won the best documentary series award at the RTS awards and has had a number of BAFTA nominations to date for its both heartbreaking and heartwarming portrayals of life within the hospital walls.
