24 cases in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula; PGI retains Covid tag for now

CHANDIGARH/MOHALI/PANCHKULA: Chandigarh reported 16 Covid cases in Wednesday and weekly positivity rate was reported at 1.29%.

There are 69 active cases. Also, PGI will carry the Covid tag till further orders from the Government of India, even though there is only one patient on oxygen support for Covid. “We cannot remove the label until the government instructs us,” said director, PGI, Prof Vivek Lal. On March 31, 2020, PGI became a dedicated Covid hospital when the first patient was admitted in Nehru hospital extension. Over 4,500 patients who were seriously ill were admitted here.

Mohali reported four Covid cases and no death on Tuesday. There are 55 active cases. Of the 95,950 cases reported so far, 94,747 patients have been cured. The district’s death tally is 1,148. Meanwhile, 541 people were vaccinated in Mohali on Tuesday. The first dose was administered to 176 persons, including 16 in the age group of 15 to 17 and the second to 292, including 25 in the age group of 15 to 17 and 193 got jabs in the age group of 12 to 14 years. As many as 73 persons received the booster dose. So far, 11,47,391 have received the first dose and 8,57,684 have received the second.

Panchkula reported four new cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, taking the tally to 44,279, with 21 active cases.
