24,000 Aldi shoppers seen queuing at 7am for £39.99 Specialbuy item

Over the weekend supermarket giant Aldi sparked a new shopping craze, as it released some exciting SpecialBuys for the garden.

But one product in particular seemed particularly popular - and some shoppers reported being stuck in queues of up to 24,000 people to bag one.

Writing in the Reduce Your Supermarket Spend Facebook group at 7.52am, one shopper asked: "What are Aldi selling that is so much in demand? I’ve got FOMO now."

Fans of the supermarket quickly responded, and revealed it was a £39.99 patio heater causing the hold-up.

"Is it the patio heater cos rule of 6 outside starts in a few weeks and it's gonna be baltic cos that's standard for Easter holidays?" said one person.

Another wrote: "I’ve just finished, the patio heater appears to be the item selling fast."

"I waited for 25 minutes for a garden heater and thankfully got one," said a third person.

A fourth explained: "I’m 24000 in the queue! I think it’s garden products."

Aldi's Gardenline 2000W Patio Heater went on sale online over the weekend, but is now out of stock thanks to its popularity.

A description of the Aldi website reads: "Relaxing outside on a cool evening can sometimes be a bit chilly, so add this Gardenline 2000w Patio Heater to your patio set up this year for a relaxing ambience you won't want to miss out on. With 3 heat settings, a safety tip switch and a generous 1.9 metre cable (approx.), whether you are enjoying a cheeky glass of vino on a clear summer night, or reading a good book, this fabulous patio heater is sure to keep you warm and cosy."

Aldi's website says that the patio heater will be available again in the next couple of weeks, so keep your eyes peeled.
