AN 18th-century island inn with a beer garden has been put up for sale for an undisclosed price.
Traditionally, a coaching inn first opened in 1786, Kingarth is a popular island pub and hotel which hosts christenings, marriages, parties, and wakes.
CCL Property is marketing the property available for leasehold sale as owners Simon and Maria Tettmar retire.
The hotel hosts seven bedrooms, including letting accommodation and a private owner’s suite.
The bar and restaurant seats up to 70 guests, features a pool table, dart board and the beer gardens and outdoor seating hosting up to 75 people.
The inn sits at the crossroads on the way to Kilchattan Bay and near the historic St Blane's Chapel, a ruined church at the southern end of the Isle of Bute and boasts views that stretch as far as the Isle of Arran and the Holy Isle.
David Pickering, Commercial Director at CCL Property, commented: "The Kingarth Hotel is a long-established and very successfully run business, with a fantastic reputation on the Isle of Bute and beyond.
"It’s really well suited to new owners who are passionate about hospitality and eager to build on its success.
"This is a turnkey opportunity in a beautiful setting, and we’re excited to help the next chapter of the Kingarth Hotel’s story begin.”
In reaction to the Tettmar couple retiring, dozens of customers sent their best wishes on social media.
"Well done on continuing the quality and service from tragic circumstances. You, of course, will be missed but life goes on. Best wishes for a lovely, happy and fun filled retirement… as my mum used to say, you’re a long time deid!" one wrote.
Another said: "You guys have been absolute legends and have helped bond our community together over a number of decades. A relaxing break is much deserved following years of such hard work. "
