23 proper Welsh ways to avoid the coronation completely if you want nothing to do with it

For some the pageantry, tradition, and theatre will be an unmissable feast for the eyes. For others a big gold carriage and a pointy hat worn by a posh bloke who had a second home in Carmarthenshire is just a bit of an odd day out. But each to their own is what we say.

The important thing is that we've all got an extra day off – and we can choose what we want to do with it. So, if you don't want to spend an entire weekend listening to Huw Edwards' dulcet tones (hang on – that actually sounds lovely), we've got the alternatives covered.

Thankfully we live in a country rich in culture and natural beauty. And the alternative options are vast and unrivalled. This is our Welsh guide for those who aren't bunting enthusiasts and hate sultanas in their chicken sandwiches.

Mountain goats roam the streets of LLandudno on March 31, 2020 in Llandudno, Wales. The goats normally live on the rocky Great Orme but are occasional visitors to the seaside town, but a local councillor told the BBC that the herd was drawn this time by the lack of people and tourists due to the COVID-19 outbreak and quarantine measures.
