PRAYAGRAJ: Breaking all the previous records, Sangam city on Monday reported 23 new dengue cases, taking the tally to 518. One each new case were detected in Rambagh, Allahapur, Chota Baghara, Swaraj Nagar, Mumfordganj, Shivkuti, Omgayatri Nagar, Teliyarganj, New Cantt, Meja, Bhagwatpur, Kaundhiyara, Koraon, Jasra, Shringverpur, and Baharia. Two cases were reported from Baluaghat and four cases from Naini.
Out of 23 cases detected, 16 cases were from city areas, while the rest seven were from rural areas. Moreover, out of total 518 dengue cases in the district so far, 363 were in urban pockets, while the rest 155 were in rural areas.
Officials of the health department, after witnessing a significant spike in dengue cases in urban areas intensified the anti-larvae spraying drive in many city localities, including Chota Baghara, Rambagh, Allahapur, Swaraj Nagar, Shivkuti, Mumfordganj, Baluahat, New Cantt and Teliyarganj areas.
Officials also interacted with denizens in many localities and appealed to them to adopt preventive measures to keep the mosquito-borne disease at bay.
The officials are promoting the use of mosquito nets and replants to check the spread of the cases of vector borne disease. Anti-larvae spraying and fogging were also taken up intrans-Ganga and trans-Yamuna areas.
