THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state logged 23,260 positive cases of the 1,28,817 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 18.05%.
The state also reported 131 Covid-19 recent deaths, taking the related toll to 23,297. At the same time, 20,388 patients have recovered from the disease. Among the new cases, 21,983 cases have been infected through local transmission. The contact source of infection was not traceable for 998.
Thrissur reported the highest number of cases with 4,013, followed by Ernakulam (3,143), Kozhikode (2,095) and Thiruvananthapuram (2,045), Malappuram (1,818), Alappuzha (1,719), Palakkad (1,674), Kollam (1,645), Kottayam (1,431) and Kannur (1,033).
The total active cases at present are 1,88,926, of which 12.8% of people are admitted either in hospitals or other treatment centres. There are 5,37,823 persons presently under observation in various districts, of which 5,11,461 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres, and 26,362 are in isolation at hospitals.
