Gold prices edged lower across major Indian cities today (Friday, June 19, 2026), tracking a decline in domestic bullion rates. Prithviraj Kothari, managing director at RiddiSiddhi Bullions Ltd., president of IBJA, says “Gold broke below $4,200 and silver neared $65, set for a 4% weekly decline, as the Federal Reserve’s hawkishness overrode the relief rally triggered by the US-Iran peace deal. Lower oil prices and easing inflation offered little comfort against rising rate expectations. The Indian rupee appreciated to a six-week high of 94.2 per dollar, driven by capital inflows and the unwinding of long-dollar positions. Domestic gold imports have collapsed to 25–30 metric tonnes monthly from 75–100 metric tonnes, following the import duty hike. Technically, gold targets $4,050–$4,100 (Rs 1,43,000–Rs 1,44,000) and silver eyes $60–$61 (Rs 2,23,000–Rs 2,25,000) as next support zones”
