222 new infections in Tokyo

The Tokyo metropolitan government announced Wednesday that 222 infections with the new coronavirus had been newly confirmed in the capital on the day.

It was the first time in three days that the number had exceeded 200. Wednesday's figure brought the cumulative total of infected people in Tokyo to 16,474.
