Madhya Pradesh: 22 prisoners injured after barrack wall collapses in Bhind district jail

BHOPAL: At least 22 prisoners were injured after the wall of a 150-year-old jail collapsed in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh early on Saturday.

The injured were rushed to a hospital and two of them who were said to be in a critical condition have been referred to Gwalior for further treatment. There are around 225 prisoners in the jail premises.

The incident took place around 5am.

The police said that the barrack number 6 was completely damaged. At the time of the incident, there were as many as 64 prisoners inside.

Senior police officials including the district collector reached the spot and inspected the area.

An inquiry has been ordered in the matter.
