22 people arrested in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot in day-long police operation

22 people were arrested across Swansea Bay as part of a day-long operation by South Wales Police .

Four drug warrants were also carried out throughout Swansea and Neath Port Talbot on the day of action named Operation Mermaid.

The warrants targeted people wanted in connection with crimes.

The alleged offences people were arrested in connection with included domestic abuse, grevious bodily harm and assault.

Inspector Matthew Otteson, who led the operation, said officers and staff were out looking for crime suspects every day, but Operation Mermaid "gave the opportunity to work together across the division and make a concerted effort to get those wanted for the most serious crimes".

In a recent day of action in Cardiff, police with chainsaws seized £20,000 worth of drugs including crack cocaine and heroin during raids on seven properties in the Pontprennau and Ely areas.
